Our 3-Step Process for Picking the Right Commercial Blender for Your Food Business
-
Volume
-
Application
-
Control system
Step 1: Volume
Our team had a long internal debate: should the first step in this process be volume or application? In the end, it came to a vote, and volume won. Here’s why we think volume should be the first consideration for picking the right blender.
If you’re a smoothie shop or juice bar, you’d need to use the blender for each and every customer. Therefore, it’s safe to say that a smoothie shop would be looking for a higher-volume blender. Compare that to a restaurant just using their blender for pasta sauce, salsa, and guacamole. They would be using their blender way less frequently, and not for every customer, so they may opt for a medium duty blender.
Application is important, and it’s our second consideration, but we believe the first consideration should be volume, which simply put is the expected frequency of use for your blender.
We break down volume into 3 categories: light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty. Each category is defined by the number of blender cycles each day. Each category contains its own unique blender series.
Light-Duty Blenders
Recommended for 1-24 cycles per day.
- Bar Blender Series
Medium-Duty Blenders
Recommended for 25-50 cycles per day.
- Blade Series
- Torq 2.0 Series
Heavy-Duty Blenders
Recommended for 75+ cycles per day.
- MX series
- CB series

- Drink Mixers
Step 2: Application
Now that you have an idea of your volume. The second consideration for picking your blender is the application. Simply put, what’s the primary purpose of the blender?
Will you be using the blender for mostly beverages? Or do you need food product blending capabilities as well?
Furthermore, if you’re serving many smoothies, you may opt to choose a blender with a spigot attached. If you want control over the speed of the blender, opt for a variable control speed. Are you looking for a sound enclosure? Or a timer? These are some considerations when looking at the application use of your blender.
Step 3: Control system
The last consideration is the control system for your blender. By now, you have an idea for your expected volume and application but, many blenders also have control system features that may be useful to your food business concept.
You may have noticed different variants within each blender series. For example, let’s take a look at the CB15 blender series. There is the CB15 blender, the CB15T, the CB15V, the CB15SF, and the list goes on… You may notice these variants on other blender series as well.
Why do so many different kinds of blender models exist? Well, the thing is these blenders only differ in their control system! Now let’s take a look at each blender series and see all of their control systems and any control system features.
